Once you have paid for the day, you will be issued a wristband. These wristbands must be worn on your wrist at all times during the day. Persons found not wearing a wristband, or wearing a damaged wristband will either be asked to pay for a new wristband, or ejected from the venue (at the discretion of SGL staff).
We provide tables and chairs. Seats may be reserved for friends (reserving a seat is normally done by placing the chair on the table). After 10:30, any empty seat may be taken by anyone. This time may be changed on the day by an SGL Staff member. We will give plenty of warning if we are going to change it.
Please check the news page for information on the competitions at the next event.
- You are assigned an IP address when you create an account on the SGL website. Your IP address will remain the same for all future events.
- You are most welcome to bring any extra machines to serve as dedicated servers. There will be no extra charge incurred if you do so. We appreciate if all servers are connected up on the stage, & into the on stage switch and not into the client switches. We can provide a dedicated Gigabit port on the core switch for servers apon request. However, these are limited and subject to availability. It would be appreciated if you brought your own keyboard & mouse for the server.
- There is some available peripherals available for sale on the day, ranging from network cable to spare keyboards, mice & some network cards.
- Attendance is for 15 years old and over. If you are under the age of 15, you must be accompanied by an adult.
- SGL provides a 100% gigabit network for multiplayer gaming. As each table has a limited number of switch ports available, players may only use one port each - this means no second computer, and no load-balancing tricks either. (Game Servers are allowed - encouraged!)
- No illegal or restricted software or content shall be shared on the network at any time. This includes porn, racial diminishing or material which has copyright restrictions. Only GNU licensed material Creative Commons is to be shared.
- We reserve the right to, at any time restrict access to the network.
Computer, monitor, keyboard, mouse, power cable, networking cable, and any drivers/software you require.
Speakers, Bad Attitude.
Power board, Power, Network connectivity, tech support, lunch & dinner, canteen and some gaming servers.
SGL provides game servers for many popular multiplayer games - the actual games hosted will reflect current popularity, and will vary slightly from Event to Event. You can request the hosting of a server using the SGL forums if you have an idea. Patrons may bring Game Servers - i.e. a separate computer used to host multiplayer games. These servers should be placed with the SGL servers, where they will be closer to the network core, as well as not consume limited table-switch ports.
- Unfortunately in the past there have been some incidents of theft. Patrons are advised to keep all small valuables on their person (wallets, phones, cameras), and naturally to keep an eye on their computers, and their neighbours' computers. Any person without a wristband should be assumed to be a thief, and should be reported to SGL staff immediately.
- SGL reserves the right to remove any person from the event, for any reason, at any time (with or without a refund; and in accordance with your statutory rights).
Physical contact should be kept to the virtual domain only - persons engaging in physical violence will be removed from the venue by staff and further access to our events will be reviewed. Further, continual verbal abuse or personal attacks will not be tolerated.
"Reasonable" Directions from SGL Staff must be followed. "Reasonable" is defined by the staff of SGL.
- Each tournament will run under its own terms and conditions. However, most of these competitions are run free of charge, with no entry fee(s). To gain a spot for yourself or your team, it is advised you get to the event as early as possible and be ready to register for a spot.
- For some tournaments, pre-registration is required. This must be done by following the instructions on the website and also registering for the SGL event. Registering for the tournament does not register you for SGL.
- We are always interested in running more tournaments at each event. If you are interested in running a tournament, You can contact us by the "Contact" page on this site. Please list any information on the game and structure of the tournament you wish to run. We will happily help co-ordinate and organise prizes for you.
- Tournaments can be very lengthy and can be subject to cancellation due to either time or technical issues. (Blackouts, excess number of players) In all tournaments, SGL reserves the right to cancel, postpone or end a match or tournament at any time. We reserve the rights to change or distribute the prizes at any moment, without any warning.
